Picking up my new Guinea keets this afternoon

Thanks!!! They are funny little critters for sure I actually have some purple, Lavender, and pearl not sure on the pied thing as i did not see any pied in her flock but i think it would be cool if they were!

Oh believe me, there's Pieds in there. I've hatched 700 or so Pieds in several different colors in the last couple seasons, so I can pick them out pretty easily, lol.

And actually when I downloaded one of your pics and looked at it full size I see what might be a Pied Royal Purple in the corner. Watch everybody's wing feathers as they start growing in, any keets with whites on the sides of their faces (pure white, not cream) and white wing feathers (even just a couple) will turn out to be Pied adults. Did the breeder have a pure White in the flock? Typically Whites X Non-Pied = 50% Pied keets (if the entire clutch hatches that is)

I circled and labeled which keets look like Pieds to me:

I See 2 purple Keats , they are the 2 to the far left in the first photo with the squiggly lines on their heads.

Congradulations , have fun watching your new babies

Actually 5 are royal purple 6 lavender and 5 pearl 16 total you just can't see them all in the these pics. If i remember i can take pictures of them in their respective groups so you can tell me who is pied etc...

Ok so i took more pics now i am curious about the whole pied color thing lol so correct me if i am wrong in the colors

Purple pied

Lavender Pied

So am i right?

All of my royal purples loose their white, i have never had a royal purple pied , mabe peeps knows if there is such a thing.

I love the little heart shaped spots they get when they are young, wished they kept them.

Your lavenders are pieds

Yes, there are Pied Royal Purples, I have hatched around 10-12 of them and currently have 2 in one of my breeding flocks. They are not easy to ID until they start growing white wing feathers tho, and I have sold a few unknowingly (dangit, I want to keep them all, lol). I'll dig up pics and/or take some in a little bit of a few. GuineaLady93 has an adult Pied Royal Purple Hen too, and there are several pics of her on here somewhere. They are very pretty birds when they mature.

Your Royal Purple keet's head markings are in a narrower than normal patch, which is what made me ID it as a Pied Royal Purple in the pic I edited for you. Do see the white flight feathers coming in on the Royal Purple? Those would normally be coming in dark on a non Pied Royal Purple. So if it has the white flight feathers, yes it's Pied. I see them growing in on the Pied Lavender, that's definitely a Pied Lavender.
