picking up some babies in the morning!!! **They're here! PIC**

Absolutely nothing wrong with a hatchery. I was just hoping to get some at a few days old (less losses) and be able to get a deal. The best deals I found were the "fry pan" specials (cheapest was 25 for ~$30 with shipping) but those would be all roos unless the sexers made a mistake. At least this way I have a (theoretical) 50/50 shot at male/female. I also didn't have to have them shipped in this heat.

I want them mostly for meat (though with giants it will be a while). I was very happy to find someone local to purchase from that takes pride in his stock. Again, he is NPIP and only raises giants. I am so excited about the colors too. I can't wait to see what some of them feather out to.
Oh ic well then I will go ahead and order my raised pullets to be picked up in the fall. If you end up with a hen are you going to hatch your own? Make sure you post some pics as they grow!

Yes, I will be breeding. Out of 30, I better end up with more than one hen.

The man I got them from doesn't sex them so I have a potential 50/50 shot on sex. They are not all related also which is nice.

I was so worried about them last night I had a hard time sleeping. I kept thinking, what if the light bulb blows, what if something breaks in and gets them, what if, what if. They were fine this morning. :)

I do the same thing while raising chicks :) I just sit around and worry about them, but they are pretty tough little creatures :) I heard somewhere the closest relative to a T Rex is a chicken, and I believe it.

Its just been so long since I've had chicks. I've had ducklings more recently but their mommas took care of them.
