Pickle the Silkie

I am starting this thread as a record of my basically feral silkie rooster. His name is Mr. Pickles, he used to have a black silkie pullet named Ninja but she sadly passed away. I am planning to get some more hens for him soon! This will be my way of keeping track of him and his future mates and (hopefully) eventually his babies.

Oh I forgot to add as much as he hates being held once I catch him he cuddles with me. He is really well behaved for baths and nail trimmings. He does this cute thing where he "growls," and scratches out a nest for himself on the ground.

Pickle is going to fair on Tuesday, so I gave him a bath. I then let him go outside to dry off. He decided to dust bathe. He NEVER dust bathes I have seen him dust bathe twice in his entire life!

Here is a bit of a random update. Pickle has 2 girlfriends right now, my ducks Nugget and Darkwing. Nugget is a mutt and doesn't lay eggs but she always go broody when Darkwing lays eggs. She has been broody for EVER. She just got 6 chicken eggs and suddenly Darkwing decided to go broody too. Now they are sharing the chicken eggs, 3 for Nugget and 3 for Darkwing. Pickle is NOT happy about it. He wants his girls in the yard with him and he wants them now!

Well Pickle is officially the pickiest chicken I have ever owned. I love him but what a picky lil chickie. All my chickens love watermelon, so whenever I have it I give them the rinds. I was passing it out to all the chickens so I thought I would give Pickle some too. The chicks devoured it, the laying hens devoured it and Pickles? He kicked it to the side in disgust.

I just dug up all my Pickle pictures. I don't have nearly enough! And only one with his old mate in it! Her name was Ninja she passed away a few months ago. She is the black ball of fluff.
