I have two Light Brahma & Ameraucanas pullets - 5 months old today, big healthy birds that we had vaccinated for Merek's at the hatchery. They are just about to go into lay and are acclimated to an unheated coop at night, though they do like a bit of light - we use an LED nightlight for ours.
Sorry for the bad pics, they are a little camera shy.
They've been allowed to free-forage during the day before we tuck them away in the coop at night. They get along well with dogs, cats and other poultry (ducks, chickens, etc.).
