Pics added What to do for frostbite?

Quote:
I have been gone for almost 3 weeks in TN, with my dad's illness and just got back on the 26th . I went out that night to say hello, and saw how bad they were. I am devastated, I feel bad for them. I have the vet calling me on Monday because they are not in this weekend. If I have to I will dubb them, but my family is (the men) they get sick to their stomachs really easy. I will be on my own.

Poor chickies.

We have had some cold weather here too. I'm hoping I don't have to deal with that. My hens stay inside all the time. They hate the cold.

Sorry to hear about your chickens! I think this gives everyone a reality check.....there is such a thing as too cold!

Good luck with getting them better. I would not want to be in your shoes and having to dub them. I dont think I could do it!

Oh, that makes me sad.I hope while we're on holiday,my grandkids take as good care of my chickens as I do.I'll worry all the time I'm gone.Such terrible pain your chickens must be going thru.I can only think how bad my hands hurt after being out in the cold and then coming inside.I hope your chickens aren't in agony....my prayers are with them....

my neighbor cuts off the combs of his roosters because of this the rooster dosen't seem to mind to much and it leaves only a thin line on the head . I know it sounds awful. He says once they have frost bite ,where the comb is black it wont get better , it either falls off or gets infected. He uses scissors for the operation, He cuts off their waddles too.
Good luck .

Just found this you might want to check it out
