So...there are these very friendly ducks at the runoff pond for the parking lots and campus of a local hospital, and there are Canada geese and whatnot...

This is at a VERY BUSY intersection in a nasty spot for silly ducks. A few of us want to rescue them and are looking into legalities, etc.

Question: could you loverly duck folks identify them, their colors, quality, etc. AS BEST POSSIBLE given the quality of the photos, and arm me with some info for finding owners? I'm slowly getting into waterfowl, but I'm not there yet, so I lean on your expertise!

Thanks!!

I KNOW, I KNOW...crappy pics. It's 45 minutes away and I didn't have a good camera...

They look like mixes. Maybe some runner, or buff orpinton, or both. The white, uumm it's cute. Tail curls that resemble a C from the side view are drakes. Darker head coloration often times (like in buffs) are drakes as well. Probably someone's Easter basket, or barnyard mix they got tired of, saw water, and dropped off.

About 30 yrs. ago I had ducks, lots of ducks. They multiplied like rabbits. Mixed mallards with other is what they look like. I sold them to the feed store for 60 cents each. Called them Gumbo ducks. A bit of everything

My best guess is that the brownish ones are Khaki Campbell mixes. The white with spots has some magpie or anconda in him somewhere.

They aren't heavy built ducks, so unlikely that there is Buff in there anywhere up close, but who knows what might be back there in the background. Whatever they are, they would make a nice little flock for someone and I only notice 2 drakes, so there should be some good egg laying going on.
