Pics (heavy) of pea parents

Connerhills, I was approached this past spring about being on the BOD by Jeanna Motz of Bigcreekpoultry but was then told you had to be a member in good standing for at least a year before you could hold any office,so becoming an officer or being on the BOD is out.I also do not see any reason to belong to the UPA,,the problems addressed and now trying to be accomplished on this forum, seems to have eluded UPA members in starting or completing for many years already as witnessed by yourself. I've been a active member over the years in many organizations that I felt was much more rewarding than the sweat or time it caused me.FFA,Jaycees,Red Angus Association,German SV German Shepherd club, plus a few others.I can easily meet all the requirments to becoming an officer or being on a BOD of the UPA,,,but that would be after I was a member for a year plus then getting nominated and voted in by people who don't know me. Being here on BYC I can do all this along with other like minded peafowl fanciers, and not "belong" to anything, answer to anyone,or need to wait a year to start or pursue such a task,,and not pay any dues. Not to be smug, but the only thing I ever hear from others about UPA is that every 2 months they send out a magazine with nice pictures in it,,,here we see new pics almost weekly or daily in the summertime.
I'm in no way an "expert" on peafowl or anything about them.I'm in no way qualified to write an article for a National Organization.I try to apply what I've learned to help others so they might save themselves a big unecessary expense or incur a loss.90% of what I've learned about raising Peafowl has came from this forum, starting 4 years ago by reading threads, making notes then deciding on my own course.I had noone to answer to except myself and I think now some of my methods used with my birds and breeding will rival the so called "top breeders" of Peafowl. It is unfair to judge or dismiss something that I'm not a member of (UPA)But to move forward with a picture database that's badly needed and wanted now,it's not worth waiting a year after I become a UPA member to then begin doing this.Jumping thru hoops is not necessary to accomplish goals,as per the route of first joining UPA.

90% of what you have learned about Peafowl. Charcoal in particular is from BYC?

Jeanna, glad you had time to visit here.Your final sentence under my quote is in question? Yes,the year before I bought any peacock eggs at all I think I read almost every thread here in the Peafowl section.Nowhere in my text above do I say I learned 90% about Charcoal Peafowl from this site,,please re-read what I had written.I had many Marans and had all my Ornamental pheasants long before I started buying peafowl eggs to hatch. As with anything I read-researched as much as possibly before I dove in head first.I knew to raise and keep peafowl colors true pens would need to be made.Housing would be needed.
The first Marans eggs I bought and hatched was on Aug1 2009,,Thursday June 17 2010 was the first peafowl eggs I hatched, the day Kingsford hatched from your eggs bought on E-bay.
90% of the information I read came from here, the other 10% came from phone calls-inquiries AFTER I finally hatched some out.I don't even mention the word "Charcoal" in my post above, did I miss something??
