I like to build the frame, sink the posts and then just slide the coop onto the base. That way I can do all my building in the shop not outside.

With that said, for the ones I sell and must move? I just build the base and attach it.

we are just starting coop #2 and we have snow so had to bury below the frost line.. about 2' into the ground.. we rented and auger for the day from home depot. about 70.00 and did all the coop posts and the run posts.. it is 1 yr old now and we are starting #2 as we speak.. it allows them protection from the elements when they get under it..
