Actually, Jumbo Ringnecks and Yellow Goldens are breeds, not speciessome species include: Chinese ringneck, yellow golden, red golden, lady amherst, silver, jumbo ringneck, and swinhoe's pheasants.
No, actually they are species. Yellow Golden: Chrysolophus pictus mut. luteusActually, Jumbo Ringnecks and Yellow Goldens are breeds, not species
Unless I'm wrong, you stated that Jumbo Ringnecks are a cross between two separate SUBspecies of Ring Neck Pheasants, thus making them not only not species or a subspecies, but a crossbred bird that has continually been artificially selected to add to the natural meatiness of the bird, thus making it a meat breed. No, actually they are species. Yellow Golden: Chrysolophus pictus mut. luteus
Jumbo Ringnecked: Phasianus colchicus/mongolicus
Yellow goldens being a mutation, Jumbo ringneckeds being a cross between the Chinese and Mongolian species, P.c. torquatus and P.c. mongolicus, respectively, of the true pheasants. The jumbos have a higher percentage of mongolian blood, usually around 3/4 to 7/8 mongolian, thus the larger size. Jumbos will have the crown of the head a granite-gray washed with olive and on each side of the crown will have broad white superciliary lines. P.c. mongolicus does not have any superciliary lines.
At any rate, their still considered species. Some may chose to say it's a variant or variety but it's still a species.
