This little baby hatched day before yesterday and had all of these feathers when it came out of the egg. Is this normal? It is the friendliest little baby and loves to be held and talked to.

Isnt it beautiful???????????

Oh that peachick really is beautiful! I bet that chick will become a very nice looking adult! Your photos are getting me excited about getting some peachicks this year! They are just so cute! Oh and I like the white marking on your peachick's head.

This peachick is from our Peas in our yard. It is the friendliest bird I have ever seen in my life. It follows us around and wants to go where ever we go and is vvvvvveeeeeeerrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy loud when we arent near it. LOL

Oh yeah when I hatched out Peep he was very talkative since I wasn't able to hatch any other peachicks so he got really attached to me. He would make a ton of noise when I left the room. Eventually when he got older we moved him to a wire floored pen outside and every day I would take him out for a walk around the yard where he would take dust baths and eat grass. I would use these moments to teach him how to scratch for bugs and things. Now that he is full size and almost a year old he definately talks less but he still follows me around, lets me touch him, and paces the pen and calls for me when I leave. He is very attached to people. He will follow any person really. I still take him out of the pen to walk around. Any other of my peafowl I wouldn't even dare let them out in the thought that it would be brief and easy to get them back in the pen. With Peep I let him out, walk around with him, then when I want him back in I walk into the pen holding the door open and I tap my foot and he comes running into the pen. I tap my foot because since he was a tiny chick he liked to display at my foot and I found out that if I tap my foot I can get him to come to me so that is how I can safely get him to come back inside the pen. When I tried to put him in the pen by picking him up he scratched my arms all up because he didn't want to go back so you can't be too forceful. Now that he is bigger I try to not mess with him so much. As a peachick he really needed the attention but now less is probably good. He mainly likes his head pet and you can tell when he has had enough petting. If he wants to be pet he will walk up to me and gently peck at my fingers and look at me.

Peep is a sweet bird. I hope he will always be sweet since some hand raised peacocks can end up being mean to their keeper but so far he is a good boy. Having a hand raised one is so different from buying an adult, a yearling, or even buying some peachicks. I have some peafowl that are about Peep's age and even though I got them as fairly young peachicks they are not nearly as tame as Peep. They will eat out of my hand but all peafowl will do that. Not all peafowl will actually seem to see you as more then just the person that feeds them though.
