Pics of my broody girls

My silkies (most of them), sleep in the nest boxes. I finally took the roost out of there. It was taking up too much room and they did not use it at all. I tried for months to get them to use it. I tried putting them on it every night. I tried making them get on it by themselves by herding them up to it. Nothing worked. I have 2 that sometimes sleep on the ground, but I go out to check on all the critters every evening and if they are on the ground, I put them in the boxes. Stubborn little buggers....

Gotta Love Em!!

My nest boxes are about 8 inches off the ground. Some of the girls had a hard time getting up there so I took some of the brown landscaping blocks that they make the raised flower beds with and put them in front of the nest boxes so they have a step to hop up on. They use them just fine and no one has trouble getting up there anymore.

We have 9 silkys and though they can't fly they do hop pretty high our nest boxes are a foot of the groud at least and they get into them. Our Hen that just hatched out 4 chicks is in our broody cage and we attatched the box 18 in or so from the grass ( mistaken measurment)

and in our garage they get way up into the boxes that are over 5' high but they could be jumping from pearch to pearch as we have them all the way up the walls.
Are silkys are not quite as fluffy as yours eaither though. I would show you but I don't know how to post a picture
