I finally found the time to post pics of the chicks from my first ever hatch. Its also my Gold Laced Cochin hen's first ever hatch. I purchased eight Wheaten Marans eggs to put under her when she went broody. Three of them never developed, one looked to have stopped developing shortly before the hatch date - the shell had cracked at some point. Four of the eggs hatched out with healthy active chicks, but one died sometime during the night. I think it got squashed by Mama - she was still sitting on two eggs (that never hatched). So here are my three pretty babies that hatched on October 8th:
