Pics of my new babies!!!

VERY cute! And tell your neighbor she's got some great pics, and how nice for you to have the benefit of her efforts.

I love it when two hens tag-team on the mama duties, I've been lucky that way too, when the peeps get more active, they run from skirt to feathery skirt and NO other hens will pester them!

Years ago I had a pair of cats who did it too, those kittens were SO chubby and loved!

Sharing the workload, we girls are so smart!

Master S.M.C :

How did you get that combo (Delaware blue hen)

It is a breed of it's own that the University is working on and is very, very close to getting it recognized!

Portage Girl- I had no idea that they would team up like that! I find it fascinating!!

I don't own an incubator, I always let broodies do the tough stuff! I always -try- to keep broodies on hand, they never see the stewpot even if they get too old to lay much on their own if they are willing to go broody. Good thing hens don't care who's eggs they set on!

She didn't care as long as she had some eggs! When I re-introduced her back into her flock, they accepted her and the babies right away! Auntie Sophie got the broody bug and decided to go broody and help take care of them! I had no idea that they would do that! I don;t have an incubator either, these were my first homemade babies!!!

Thank you!

Delaware's don't come in blue....these are Delaware blue hens (even the roos are called blue hens) They are totally different breed. Both originated in Delaware, the Delaware is a dual purpose bird, Delaware Blue Hens are gamy type birds.
