Oh Ellen, somehow I only now found this thread....
I am really sorry for the loss of your sweet Princess. No doubt she knew she was loved and not alone in this world, even till the very end - the greatest gift we can give. When they go, and it turns out they're not with a friend when it happens, it is very heartbreaking/haunting, at least for me. I'm so glad you don't have to experience that with Princess.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your precious condolences. She's definitely left a hole in my heart but I am thankful for the time I had with her. You're right. She was definitely loved - and spoiled - and a royal princess.

I'm so sorry. It must have been so hard, that trip to the vet. I'm facing the same decision with Rosemary, I hope I'm as brave as you....
Princess was a beautiful girl and I'm sure she knew how much you loved her.

I'm sorry I've only just seen this thread- but want to tell you how sorry I am. What a difficult decision to make. I haven't yet needed to make this decision, but hope to have the same strength you do when the time ultimately comes.

I just found this and am so sorry for your loss. I also have just taken a beloved hen to the vet to be euthanized. I feel your pain. Know that in time it will ease.
