Pics of my sweet Princess - RIP sweet girl

Goddess, Ellen...I know how hard this is...

When Slifer was so sick, I had made plans to stay up at my SIL's for a few days...I almost cancelled out on my mini vacation.

She held on until I had been home for almost a week before she went.

Ernie fed and watered her and Obelisk, but I KNEW that she wasn't going to get the care that I would've given her when I would've been there...

I can only say to "do what you think is best for her". She'll let you know when she's ready.

I really really appreciate all that you all have said here. It's been comforting to have a place and people to turn to. I think today might be the day to help Princess over the rainbow bridge.

I'll come back later and update you. This is SO hard!!!

I think you are doing the best thing for her. You do not want her to suffer. Just be happy and celebrate her life(however happy and long it was) and do not dwindle on her death. You should be somewhat happy for her(I know that sounds very weird), she is meeting her end humanely and not starving or being eaten by a predator or loose pet.

I think you will feel much better once it is done with and you realize she led a great life and met a good end.

Ellen, I just saw this....Everyone is right. Helping her go peacefully, with a loving gentle hand is the best way for her and you.

Well, it's done. I took my little girl to the vets and had her put to sleep - in 3 stages. First he gave her a shot to totally relax her, then gave her gas to put her to sleep, then put her down with an injection in the heart. She was the most awesome chicken I've ever "known" and I can't believe she's gone. But I do know it was for the best. She just wasn't eating and was getting weaker and weaker. When I would hold her on my chest and she gazed into my eyes...I wanted so much to know what she wanted to say. I believe now that she was "telling" me she wanted to go in her sweet, gentle way. Rest in peace my sweet sweet Princess. There'll never be another like you and I'll always love you.

:aww I'm so sorry for your loss but I believe you did the right thing. It's tough for us to make that decision, but it sounds like Princess wanted you to do that for her.
Do you have a picture of her for us to see?
