**Pics of our 1st day out**

i know Judy...my camera need this new cord to connect it to the puter and we have a newer digital video camera which theoretically can take still pics but i cant figure it out...im working on the pics really i am!

She came and brought two of the most awesome looking white crested ducks (boy and girl) and I picked out 3 rouens trying to use all the cues i found online--> males having greener bills, different quacks, looking for green feather development etc...im sure i probably got it totally wrong but hopefully i managed to get a couple girls and a boy! They went straight into the tub for a swim! Now they are sitting in a big deep bed of fresh hay eating their food. They are REALLY friendly little buggars...i mean the lady brought them to my house ( she wanted to see where they would be living which i think is very responsible of her!) in the back of her truck and she just handed them to me--> these ducks are totally tame, they just snuggled up and were totally comfortable being handled. The rouens are less tame but still very calm when picked up.

How totally cool! Good grief i have to stop getting new birds or my chicken eutopia that i created where they have 900+sqfeet to enjoy with total protection on 6 sides will be counteracted by having too many birds. I have 29 now...24 chickens and 5 ducks. I do anticipate selling off at least 2 roos and if i get more than one rouen male then the other one will also be sold.

It is addictive isn't it...I said I wanted a pair of ducks..I got 3, then I found 6 at a sale for 55 cents a peice, two escaped to the creek across the road, So now I am up to 7 with another coming this week. They are just so darn cute.

My ducks aren't very tame. The momma duck will not let us near her babies without alot of rukus. Yesterday we had to catch them to move them to the new coop and run. She ran at us bumping us in the legs with her chest. Kinda funny to see her way of protecting. It doesn't hurt but we still caught ourselves running and jumping outta her way. The ducklings are 4 weeks old today and so darn cute that I wish I could just cuddle one sooooo badly. I did hold a few yesterday with Momma freaking out at my feet!

Understand the whole camera thing--I'm not good with anything electronical at all. Lucky I can even turn on my computer. Have to have the kids show me how to fix stuff all the time. They just sigh and fix it--AGAIN!

By the way-I don't think there is anything softer than the chest of a duck. They are so soft there. Mine know when I pick them up that I'm gonna rub their chests so they just stretch out their necks and let me.

Hope you guys are starting to dry up! This been the weirdest June for us Texans!! Your babies are too cute!!

Thanks Ferrn! I love my babies! This is the wettest summer I can remember. I don't know where you are at in Texas but this morning we got a huge thunderstorm that lasted for about 2 hours. It had horrific rain and thunder. I was gonna mow today but not now. This rain has made my yard turn into a rain forest. I was thinking about buying a boat just in case! We haven't flooded out yet but my neighbor had water all the way up to their front door steps! The mosquitos are the worst. The kids and I have bites all over us and I'm worried about West Nile!
