I'm so sorry I hadn't gotten back to everyone about our coop. Since we started we have added another 8x12 section so it's 8x20. The 8x12 section is for meat chickens the kids raised for the fair.
Here it is with the edition. I haven't painted it yet.
The inside of the edition for the meat chickens.
A shot of the outside of the meat chicken "wing"!!! I have a tarp on the front that we can lower up and down depending on rain and sun issues. It really worked out great.
This is the original coop before the edition. I h
ad a 10x10 dog kennel around it.
This is the best shot I can find of the nesting boxes. There are three in a row and works just fine with our girls. Proud mama and daddy duck are laying with their young'uns under the boxes!!
After we added the edition we also added more of the fencing panels. The premade panels saved us alot of time. All we did to chicken proof them was add 3 ft of the small holed chicken wire (found at
TSC) to the bottom of each panel. It keeps critters out and babies in!! We used the chicken coop itself as the back fence and brought the yard out 16 ft so the whole yard is 16x20. This larger yard is much better for the ducks too. They love to have half of it covered in mud!!!
