Pics of Poop boards

Here are mine, not as pretty as the prior post as my husband got lazy and didn't want to make things pretty for the chicks, lol (didn't even bother to trim the boards).

I've heard that the Sweet PDZ won't hurt them and can replace grit, but I'd like some more opinoions, as they seem to be eating quite a bit of it.

Sweet PDZ is a horse stall refresher. It keeps the smell to a minimum from the ammonia in the poop. It works great on a poop board as you would kinda scoop the poop out of it - like cleaning a cat litter box. Highly recommend! Here's a link from the Sweet PDZ site:

HOLY WOW..... Sounds Awesome... No More Pine shavings?!?!?! WooHooo... well less perhaps.Ha...Thanx for the feedback!!

I use Sweet PDZ under my roosts. I found a scoop/handled colander at in the kitchen section at walmart. I use it like a big litter scoop and just scoop up their poo every couple of days. The PDZ just falls through and the poo stays in the scoop. Much like a cat box, just bigger scale. It has really cut down on flies and smell. I still use pine shavings in the nesting boxes, but I have the PDZ on the main floor area of my coop too. Love it! I have found another brand of stall freshner at my farm store that is the same stuff, just a different name, same ingredient, Clinoptilolite.

This is a pic of my poop board prior to the chickies, prior to the coop being finished and I've done some modifying of it as well. I lowered the roost ALOT,,it's now about half or a little less the height in this pic...Since I felt it was rather high for the chickens to jump up on, I installed a second poop board against that wall with the window, below the current one it goes from left wall to right wall, they hop up on that one, and either stay there or hop up on the taller one.. My nesting boxes are under the above poop board as well..

I use DE and Sweet PDZ as well, I also have lined it with a bathroom / kitchen type tile that doesn't hold moisture or mold..
