Oh my gosh! my girls are 20+ weeks old and their run is all dirt, and every time it rains it gets smelly and then they want to play in the mud and get all dirty.

Kuntrygirl what do you keep your ducks on? I have 3 that I plan on putting with my chickens who are on sand (which I love) but when I tried them on sand in their pen it was impossible to clean cause the sand was wet and all caked up. So now I have paper towels on top of the sand which helps but I can't put paper towels down when they go in the barn.

The ducks are on sand as well. As of right now, I have 4 sets of mama and ducklings(with one group having a total of 11 ducks - 1 mama and 10 ducklings) on sand and it is working perfect. Not wet and not cacked up. What type of sand are you using? How thick is your sand? Let's try to see what's going on with your sand.

It's washed play sand from Home Depot. It's about 1" thick maybe a little more. They are in a big playpen/dog crate right now cause they are only 11 days old so I couldn't put to much down or it will fall out the sides. And I'm using a gallon water jug with a hole cut in it so they can dunk their heads.
