Perhaps contact the OP via personal message and ask them if they mind. Or at least credit them for the photo(s). I think some would mind so perhaps it's best to ask..

Yes it’s always polite and courteous to ask to use their pictures in any articles.

I would take a non-response as a no. There are so many pictures on BYC, it shouldn't be hard to find another one that is acceptable that you can get permission to use.
