Picture thread of my hens!

Rosie ex batt laying her first egg since recovering from the cages. Think she's a bit confused about the whole straw thing because she started having a dust bath half way through!

Bless her heart she's not used to laying eggs in something soft like the hay. She has to take advantage of it and take a little dust bath in the middle of laying. Thank you so much for rescueing her she is beautiful.

I'm so glad your pics are in magazines they need to be shared with a huge audience. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Was just looking through a scrap book I made years and years ago and I found some very old pictures of where my hens live from when my grandma and grandma had them. My hens originally lived in the big shed you see in the picture but by the time I came to using it it was rotten and falling to pieces so they had to go live in new sheds. If you look at the little trees just planted in the background, that's the trees I'm talking about when I put pictures on of the hens in the woods. They've grown so much since then!

I haven't been on here in a few days... lot's of great photos to catch up on. By the way, when I had ducks, they often laid their eggs under bushes and seemed to cover them in dirt on purpose.

Last week me and my friend dug the ducks pond out and built it up with tires. It just needs a little more work at the front, but apart from that it's good. I want to put some rolls of turf over the tires to make it look nicer. Only problem is that if they play up when I want them out I can't get them out! Once I get to where you can see the bowl, the water is too deep and goes over my wellies!

Love how Bella is the only hen that refuses to move out of top hen PL's way. Think it's Bella trying to tell her she thinks she's the real queen of the flock!

Well that's my good deed of the day done. Was asked to take 2 cockerels, which I couldn't so I tried to find them a home. Got one boy a home, so the woman brought him over today. He's in the garden waiting to go to his new home. Woman didn't thank me for taking him or anything, she just said "there's his brother just like him and a Banty cockerel" you've got round about a week to find them a home before they go to heaven.

Oh well, the good deed was for the cockerels, rather than the ungrateful lady, I guess. I can say that I appreciate your effort for the boys.

I'm sure the ducks like the pond. There are a couple ways I can think of to reach ducks in the deep section. One is to put a few stepping stones in (although they might rip the pond liner). You could also have a fishing net on a pole nearby to disrupt any bad behavior or pull a duck out.
