Just rescued this little girl from the side of the road. Noticed her a week or so back and mam later told me she's been there since 2012! She was injured with her back ripped open, she's really skinny and is scoffing food. She was really friendly once I got a hold of her. Only place close she could be from is the battery farm, but she was way too far away from it, so I'm assuming she was dumped or an escapee, but still not sure how she got that far away. The battery farm has shut down now, I rescued a lot of like from there. Anyways, she's safe now. I'm going to see of I can move coco out of her broody shed tonight so she can move in

I'm glad you rescued Mabel. I also love how Daisy and Bella are posing in this photo.

Lacey, Penelope and Mabel's first day out today! Didn't get any pics of Mabel, but here's Lacey and Penelope

Mabel, Lacey and Penelope were all tired after their first day back out. Mabel is fitting in quite well, she was up the field with the other hens (you can see her in between the first ginger hen and roger).

Mabel is still doing well, think the only thing she has interest in being friends with is me! She likes to follow me everywhere, even if she can't keep up! I left the poor girl in the wood this morning with the rest whilst I went to check on the broodies and I heard her screaming and saw her shoot past, followed by roger, so I had to chase them and help her because he backs still sore. She also hides behind me when the other hens come around. For example Jezebel started having a go at her and then when Mabel started walking away, Jezebel ran offer her to flap at her back (she does it to all the hens below her) and Mabel ran behind me and when Jezebel went running past, I might have just stuck my foot out! So she ran off after the embarrassment!

You saved Mabel and she is grateful.
I have a dog that I rescued and she thinks I walk on water. The loyalty of animals is humbling. It makes me question how we have used them.
I think some animals enjoy their jobs though. I think work horses enjoy their tasks and so do sheep dogs.
Our dogs think they have jobs because I take them to work, but they really don't.
