Picture thread of my hens!

Alice and Tilly are precious. I know it won't be long before they are beautiful and healthy. Do they let you pick them up? They look so timid they probably have never had their pic taken before. Give them an extra treat from me. Thanks so much for sharing their pics.
Thanks! :). Yeah they do let me pick them up. They were really scared at first, but they are coming really tame :)

I found this chicken nest in the old duck shed and was like "why do they always do this to me?!" (Put eggs in places I can't reach). But then I remembered I broke the shed a while ago and because of that one of the pieces of wood slides open. So the jokes on them now!

Gorgeous pics of them. I love Jemima's stripes on her face. She kind of stands out in the crowd with all those chickens.

Those chickens and the ducks are determined to hatch some babies. I'm glad you were able to get to the eggs.

I'm glad you included Bella in the pics. I love her she looks so much like my first Skiddles that is my all time favorite hen. I sure do miss her.

Thanks for sharing the pics with us. I always enjoy looking at them.

Thank you! Yes they are trying hard, it gonna be a long spring!!

Wonderful photos as always. I used to have ducks, they loved laying their eggs under the shrubs, and the challenge of the egg hunt was to find them before they started to smell. Although I am not on BYC as often as I used to be, I still try to catch up on all that's going on with your chickens and ducks. I recently updated a thread on the Bald Eagles that I have been watching near my home if any one would like to check it out https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/954273/bald-eagles-nesting-on-my-property That's one of the things that has been keeping me busy lately.

Thank you! I thought I hadn't seen you about much recently. I will have to have a look at your thread. Yeah the ducks are a bit of a pain with their laying, but the Khaki girls are all laying in the chicken shed now which is handy! Just Josie the Indian Runner is laying somewhere else. I keep seeing her in someone elses field so think its in there haha

Got my two little helpers, Mabel and Tilly helping me clean out the sheds this morning!

Poor Oeflay is the only bantam in a large fowl flock of 24. She's not that low in the pecking order, but since I got 5 new girls a couple weeks back, she's been beaten by 4 of them. She came face to face with the 5th one today and they started fighting. Top hen PL has always had a soft spot for her as they've lived together for 5 years. She was trying to go help oeflay but couldn't through all the other girls surrounding them in time (instead, when the fight was done she give the new girl a chase). So I was like "right I will go", but because I have 4 hens that loyally follow me everywhere, I tripped over all of them before I could eventually get there but it was too late and she lost. After she lost she was walking around shouting on and then Jezebel, the jersey giant who has been below her years, smacked her one! Oeflay wasn't having any of it and they started fighting. I could see oeflay was winning so I stood back for that one. But then one of the new girls jamp in against oeflay too! So I went straight over and oeflay ran off. She got Jezebel later on by herself so she was pleased about that! She felt quite cocky after that and went and started puffing her chest out to PL who just doesn't even take her seriously!

I was sooo happy to see this today! Grace duck has been bullying Lacey a lot singling her out so she can't be part of the duck group. But today she went and joined in with her and daffy whilst they were looking and she didn't do a single thing! Hopefully she's finally accepting Lacey into her group!

Happy Easter to you and your beautiful flock. Oeflay is one tuff bantam. Then she even puffed her chest out to the head hen. She's got courage I'm glad Pl didn't take her seriously.

I hope Lacey fits in with the group soon. I had three seperate flocks by their own choice. It took at least a year and now their all one big flock. So hopefully they will let Lacey in especially since she has Daffy for a boyfriend.

The pictures are gorgeous as usual. They always amaze me. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
