Pictures around the ranch

We don't worry about the wild geese crossbreeding as they are paired up with their own kind. We do seperate the domestic geese from other domestics as they will crossbreed easily. We have one african goose female left and this year a sebastopol gander and a Blue goose gander tried to pair up with her; so I seperated her into a smaller pen with the blue gander, but her eggs were infertile as I think without a pool of water, he was to small to actually breed her.

I would like to pair up some domestics with Canadians as I like the hybrids, but have not had time to work on that project.

I'm in love with the Barnacles. What are their nesting habbits? Where do they make their nests? I've read they try to find somewhere higher: on top of things... ect.
So I have about a billion questions.
- Have you ever owned any giraffe? How big do the barns have to be? How big do the fences need to be?
- Can the zebra be pastured with antelope and or domestic cows
- Do you worry about your domestic animals / exotics getting diseases from eachother? I have a friend that told me somewhere either here or TN had his whole collection of exotics and his herd of cattle had to be put down bc one of the 2 groups got the other group sick.
- Have you ever owned any Kudus? I LOVE THEM Is it possible to halter train any antelope? How tall does the fencing have to be for large antelope?

*Sorry I overloaded you with so many ?s, but there's really no one directly around me who can answer these. lol

Barnacles in the wild nest on cliffs for protection from fox. In captivity they will nest about anywhere, in a goose nest, building, corner of the pen, etc.

I have never owned giraffe, but hope to some day. I have worked with a few, and have a few friends that own them. Because giraffe need to be in heated quarters for the winter, they need a barn that is well insulated. It would have to have at least 14 to 16 foot of clearance inside. Fences would need to be a minimium of 8 foot. So besides coming up with the 100K plus for the pair of giraffe you need alot of money for the barn too.

We have pastured zebra with alot of different types of animals. It would depend on the zebra's dispostion, size of pasture, number of animals.

Both our exotic and domestic animals are healthy- so we do not worry about disease transmission.

Have not owned Kudu, but have been looking at buying some. They would require a heated barn in winter. But because of price it will be awhile.

Antelope can be halter broke if they are bottle raised. Antelope usually require an 8 foot fence.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said but WOW

You have AMAZING animals!!!

We are looking into getting a little more exotic animals too, but more geared toward food production.... beefalo, elk, deer etc... Do you have any of these?

Okay so they would need a heated barn. I didn't know that about the Kudus. I knew the giraffe needed that. Well Do you think an eight foot fence could keep the kudu in?

And how much do you think Kudu calves would be? I think the giraffe idea is dead now. I do really want some Kudu calves though. 2 females. Me halter brake them. and then add a young male later on...That I did not bottle feed.
