Pictures of barn wood coop exteriors

Our coop has 80+ year old siding from an old tobacco barn, 50+ year old metal roofing from an old shed, a door from some ones home remodeling job(it was alongside the road with a FREE sign) and a mix of new and recycled framing lumber. I wanted something that looked like the coops I grew up with. With all the free materials we still spent a good bit on framing lumber, nails and hardware.

Ive got several old chicken houses that still have their "old" original wood on them, does that count?

Sadly I am going to have to tear them down one of these days. 70-80 years is a pretty good run....

If you have any old used motor oil laying around you can brush it on. I think DH thinned it down a little though with some kerosene or fuel oil. It's cheap, looks good and preserves the wood, It don't smell the greatest but soon the smell is gone, and you may have to put 2 coats on, and it will look lighter after it drys.
