In my deed restrictions I can have chickens but the run must be " camouflage " or hidden from view with foliage...does anyone have pics or suggestions?? Instead of just planting shrubs around the run..the run will go where the red box is

I'm not sure what exactly that means either, you're best checking with the town or neighbors. I've found black vinyl coated fencing to blend into grass and trees rather well. You can also take a piece of bark from a tree to match up for painted posts at a paint store.

I'd put up posts that look like a trellis or an arbor and plant them with a climbing vine. If you plant something that both you and your chickens like to eat ... that's a bonus for everyone! A neat trick for hardware cloth is to paint the outside with black paint and a paint roller. The wire "disappears!"
You can also design your run to look like an outdoor patio - picket fence around the bottom, trellis roof and a picnic table inside. Picnic tables make great boredom busters for chickens - shade protection and a place to play "King-of-the-Mountain!"

I agree that black painted/coated wire will appear invisible (trust me, I regret not paying extra for that lol).

Otherwise I guess you can run some vining flowers up the fence? Just make sure the fence is sturdy enough to take the extra weight of plants climbing on it.

This is the first time I've ever heard of someone needing to camouflage a run.
Have heard of this a couple times....not common tho.

I'd ask them for examples.
Sounds pretty vague, unless the 'rules' are more clear than what you've described.

Yes, ask for the requirements of “camouflage”. I have a similar restriction. Ours is “screened” but also, the intent counts. You can use plants, but, they don’t necessarily have to start out covering the entire thing that needs to be screened.

Where do you live? I use wax myrtles. They’re evergreen here and reach huge sizes. I actually just planted them down the entire side of my property at the fence so the entire view from the road is blocked.

do you have neighbors on all sides? Do you need to block view from the street, neighbors, or both? Could you build one side of the run with like, say a decorative, horizontal-plank wooden fence?

I've trained a grapevine along mine - my intent was shade and keeping the run cool, but it really ends up covering a lot by summer. This is how it looks right now, and I have to cut stuff off it here (southern Calif). But I think anywhere you could grow grapes, it would provide good cover for part of the year.

Where do you live? >>Fulshear ,tx ( houston) I use wax myrtles.>> plain on using sweet vibram..go up fast and tall..They’re evergreen here and reach huge sizes. I actually just planted them down the entire side of my property at the fence so the entire view from the road is blocked.>> we are on 3 acres and would cost a fortune..just have to hide rhe run...the HOA dosen't mind seeing the coop but feel the run and fencing is less attractive..
