pictures of droppings boards in short coops

I think that it works in concept, but when you run into cecal poos, sticky poos, and the odd non regular slightly wetter one, it might hamper the plants of rolling away poo.

My coop is very small only 3 ft X 4 ft... it will have 4 chickens, someday..... hopefully at the end of September.

I finished the roost area today... I plan to use an old, big commercial baking pan I have been using in my potting shed to hold seedlings, under the roost area. Each day I plan to remove the soiled bedding from the pan and put the contents in my compost bin.

Here are some pictures of the roosting poles, (I just finished them today!) I didn't take any photos of the baking pan under the roosts, but the pan fits exactly under the roost area.

Here is the cleanout door on the side of the coop.

Here are a couple more photos of the roosting area.

The nest box will be on this end, it will be an exterior nesting box. The entrance to the nest box will be flush with the wall, having a small perch on the wall under the entrance to the nest box.

I used the back of an old chair someone had thrown away for the support for the roosting poles, they are 2X4, wide end up, and I planed the top edges to take off the top corners. Hoping that makes them more comfortable for chicken feet.

This is looking from where the front wall of the coop will be.

Your coop is really cute rebbetzin but isn't 3x4 a little small or 4 chickens. Well maybe if you are not getting stardars then it would be ok.

Well, to be honest, "the plan" is to at some point redo my yard and garden with a bigger coop.... But... from what I read in books, chickens don't need all that much room in the coop, I have an enclosed area outside the coop that is about 7 by 10 feet, plus I have a "tractor" that is a bit over 8 feet by 4 feet that I will move from place to place in the yard each day.

I think they won't feel too "cooped up" except maybe at night. But then they will be sleeping hopefully.

wow rebbetzin! That's one beautiful coop!

can you take some more pictures of the whole thing?

i don't think it's too small if your babies are outside all day - what do they need more room for if all they are doing is sleeping on the roosts and laying in the boxes?

...of course if you live in a wintery place and have to keep them in there all the time they might get a little stir-crazy, but chickens (from what I hear, LOL) can go outside in most any weather.
