Pictures of lavender orpington chicks

Yeah for sure! I had one chick die at 2 days old and couldn't tell the breed... Thought it was a lav orpington that died and this white one was just a super light splash swedish isbar........ Nope! She's as big as the lavenders and acts like them, too.

That white one is FANTASTIC. Never realized that Orps came in white variety.

I thought about teaching my babies to sit on my shoulder but then thought what it would be like to have an eight pound bird jump up on my shoulder and decided no to.

Kind of agree - our adult boy, Mr. Cluck, is HUGE! Glad he's a freindly bird, his spurs are also extremely large.

Some pics of chicks we've had in past. I only currently have one of the pullet chicks as an adult - partially due to several seemed to pass due to heat stress right after a hurricane when through in 2018 and then we had a predator attack in early 2019 while they were free ranging during the day while I was at work and 2 family members sleeping in the house.

Lots of pictures of our 3 some. One of these boys succombed to heat in 2018 after hurricane - other one went to freezer camp - didn't like him as much as his sire physically and he turned aggressive. I purchased group of birds as adults from the breeder AFTER buying these chicks. LOVE the sire of these chicks. I DID find that the chicks - quite a number of them actually - had a hard time thriving when they got older. They just didn't do well. None showed signs of intestinal parasites or illness - just died when we had a sudden oppressive heat wave after a hurricane went through. The juvenile group of Lavender Orpingtons - most passed. A few lived and then I sent them to "freezer camp". I kept one pullet that had survived. She and one of the adult hens I purchased, are laying eggs daily!

These are from another2 hatches I purchased.

I seem to only have one set of pics that I went through and cropped/named. I will need to go through and see if I ever took more pics (thought I had?)... That may take a while. The orginals are now on an external hard drive - that I will need to go through.

If I remember right, I processed 2 of these and the rest all passed after the hurricane mentioned above.

I am still new to incubating eggs. We've eaten more Orpington egg than I've had hatch (2 incubation runs). I did have Mrs. Cluck (older hen) sit on 2 clutches - no actual pictures of any of them. They were some of the chickens that fed the predator(s). We still aren't sure if the predator was a stray dog or a coyote. Know it wasn't hawks (they were in our front yard) as there were dog type tracks.

Neither Mrs nor Ms Cluck have sat on a clutch this year... :(

Found a different breeder of Lavender Orpingtons not too far away from us. I am contemplating getting some! They are awesome birds and I'd like to try to actually raise some. I don't know yet, if this breeder has the same line I do or not...

May also try some other orpintons - really like both the Chocolate variety and the Mauve bantam Orps... :) :drool

Holy cow that's one big Roo  I'm pretty sure mine are all hens (what are the odds? Got them straight run!) as at 6,5 weeks old now they still only have small(ish) pink combs. And well, my shoulders aren't that wide, pretty sure they won't think of it as a great spot to sit when they are huge.
As for the white hen, really just think it's a defect. I do think she looks awesome, though. 😊
