My friend and I shared an order from Ideal Poultry last week. I ordered 5 silver penciled bantam cochins, my friend ordered 2 Black Sex-Links and 2 Gold Sex-links, and we split an assortment of 16 other bantam cochins. I was really worried when I heard how bad the weather was in Texas that we would have a silent boxed arrive. Our box shipped out of Austin, instead of Dallas where DWF airport closed on the day of shipment. The majority of chicks made it okay and were only cold, noisy, and hungry. Ideal did a nice job packing them considering with the record cold they had, but I was surprised they sent NO extras. Sadly, due to the weather, 2 silver penciled, plus 2 buffs, a black, and 2 red did not make it in transit.

As far as I can tell, here was what was included in the assorted cochins:
White (one looks like a light colored buff with chick fuzz, but the wings are coming in pure white)
Buff
Black
Red* maybe Frizzles?
*The red and buff chicks look almost identical, so I don't even know if they are red. We were disappointed there were no laced or partridge chicks in the assortment, just solid colors.

I just wanted to share their pictures that I took today at 1 week old. These are only the ones that I kept. I might go over and take pictures of my friend's chicks later, especially the ones I think will be frizzles. I like going back and looking at the developmental pictures once they are all grown up. My friend took all the frizzles, and I took both whites. My broody black cochin hen is really enjoying all of her foster babies. She adopted them all very easily, even 3 extras that another lady never came to pick up. After waiting for pick up for 3 days in a brooder box, they now have a mama too. She is a good mama hen to all of them. I just love cochins!

Red baby cochin chick. I don't think this one is frizzled, but neighbor's look like they will.
