pictures of roosts in chicken run

Im building my chicken run right now and i need ideas of roosts to put up and how to put them up, should i do branches or 2 x 4s... the roost in the coop is a 2 x 4. Also how tall should they be off the ground, the run is 5 ft tall, I'm thinking one lower roost and one higher one. Thanks

Here are my coop roost! The girls LOVE them, but all like to smoosh together on the very top roost

We did 1x3 in a half octagon shape. But for some reason they all like to sit on the right side, the shortest bar together.

They squeeze in a 18 inch space, and leave the other 6 feet just sitting there. Silly chickens.

i also have another question for the 2 x 4s mine are not flat the 2 inches is what the chickens are roosting on...should i change that? or does it not really matter
