Welcome to the quail forum in BYC! Here's a high five for ya!

Here is a picture of my chicks when they hatched a month ago. They are Texas A&Ms. This photo shows 11 chicks; I had some die and culled a couple others, so from this hatch, I only have 5 remaining, and another hatch in February I had 2 hatch, and one unfortunately bonked his head last week on the top of the cage and died of his injuries.

Such cute chicks everyone has! Well, I clearly love to take advantage of a brag thread, so here are some shots of some of our baby button quail at 5-6 weeks old...

Here is Fiona at 5 weeks (female)

Here is Matilda at 5 weeks (female)

Here is Max at 6 weeks (Male - no bib, but has rust around vent and he crows like a male)

Here is Dawn as 6 weeks (female - very sweet - played surrogate mom to three younger chicks in the same brooder)


We also have a newer batch that is 6-7 days old. If I can get some decent shots, we have a variety of other colors in our latest batch, including a golden, a silver tuxedo and a wild-type with some cool color markings that I will add to this post.

What color is your max? I have never seen that color before!

Silkies, I believe Max is just a common red-breasted, just without a white bib around the neck. As he ages, he should look something like the photo below (not my photo).....
