I'm enjoying all the unique ideas! Next summer we may upgrade our coop but who knows

the whole thing, in the summer! I styled it after Maud Lewis-style folklore paintings. It housed 4, now 3 hens.

One, if your coop is not tall enough to stand up in, it is much easier to clean when you are not on the ground on your hands and knees

Two, the chickens enjoy the shade under their coop on a sunny day, and it is a dry place on a wet day.

Three, all that dry dirt is a great place for dust baths

Four, no place for rats/mice other vermin to live/hide and get in the coop after dark

Five, if you are in a snowy area, the doors open and do not get stuck in the snow

Six, space under coop adds to run space

And....well sure more people will have something to add
