I saw on your BYC page that you free range your chickens. Maybe that's why you can't get any close pictures, they're free as....well....birds. Mine are in a large pen and I spend a lot of my day with them so I can usually get good pictures or pick one up for hugs whenever i want. They're pretty tame.

I love the pictures of your farm! Is the first one of your house? It looks really rustic. I love it.

That's what DH told me. I try no to look at the web for to long, my eyes like to play tricks on me and if I see my name I'll never leave the house agian for fear of death.

Well the pen i had them in they cleared out in no time made the grass disappear. (which created dirt / mud) so I opened the one gate and now they basically stay around the area anyways and haven't had any issues since. My husband and I are working on making a bigger / better barn yard for all the animals to share to the right of the barn. It is a huge area taken over by plants and we are starting the fencing this weekend. I can't wait!!

I figure the goats will bring the brush down enough for the chickens to enjoy themselves!!

Anywho the picture is of our barn. It was built in the late 1800's and most of what you see is the original stuff. We need to fix it up badly - it just cost an arm, a leg, and a kidney, so we just fix it as we need it. I told my hubby i want to pressure wash the stone on the bottom and repaint it. At least it will look better (I think). I love to old look - but i think our is starting to just look kinda trashy which drives me crazy!!

I am going to start a website with our process of the place...

Speaking of running into things at night. Every night when I go out to put everyone to bed I walk into at least 3 spider webs. You'd think I'd remember to carry a stick with me to knock them down but NO I walk face first into them every time. I know one day I'm going to walk into one and leave the chicken yard with a giant spider in top of my head.

Edited to add: I'd take a spider over a snake any day. I think the spiders like the chicken yard so much because of all the flies out there. If they cut back on my fly population then they're alright with me.
