Pied Manchurian, Pied Italian and Italian DF pied

P.S.: just read an article of an austrian breeder, who stated that the Pie Bald is shared in four different gene pairs, which would explain the unpredictablity 🤔

A real wide topic

Do you know which came first pied or Italian? I wonder if someone crossed recessive white with golden or pharaoh and received a mixed hatch, both at once, or if someone bred one first and accidentally discovered the other? With 4 genes contributing it was probably an interesting journey.

I don't really know. When I started being interrested keeping quails and read a lot, I just know Tibetan Tux and ressive White Pies.

The first Red Tux I saw 2 years ago at a big german breeder and since last year they and another big breeder offer Italian, Pharaoh and Pansy Pies.

If I had to guess, I would say the initial mutation came from the ressive White. But just a guess into the blue 🙈
Maybe anyone else here know it?

For the Pharaoh Pie, I can imagine, from my aktual knowlege of quail genetics, that you need to mate first Rosetta Pies/Tuxs (heterozygotous Tibetan/Gold) with heterozygotous Tibetan/Pharaoh Pies/Tuxs. There should fall out some Italian Pies (heterozygotous Gold/Pharaoh).
If you mate these Italian Pies together you should get most Italian Pies, but also some Gold Manchurian Pies and some Pharaoh Pies .... BUT how the Pie is carried along this line, idk. There will be probably everything there from just spots on the head over Pies to Pandas to Tuxs to ones with just a white beard.

But this is just guessing with my limited knowlege 🤔
