Pig Help!

We called our piglets the "bacon bits"

This may not work for you, depending on the color of your piglets, but we numbered them all and found it helpful when trying to keep an eye out and make sure they were gaining weight, etc. Not to be a downer, but piglet mortality is really, really high. We always lost a couple to mama lying on them and to "failure to thrive" where they would just stop eating and go downhill super fast. Just want you to be prepared to the reality of raising piglets.

If the sharpie won't work (dark pigs), could possibly paint toenails with nail polish, they recommend you do that with kittens if you need to tell 2 identical ones apart.

Painting hoofs is a first for me. We use to ear notch for ID.. We only ear ID tag something sold and on hold or not for sale these days.
We mostly have Dark Black livestock swine. The lighter the skin the UV rays burn white pigs such as Yorkshire here in Florida. A sun burnt pig is not good.
We do Berkshire, Hamphire and Durock breeds. Our lightest color is Glouchestershire old spots.. They burn in the sun too.. Lots of shade for them.

Hampshire will burn on the back band..

Full Berks don't burn as much..

I was thinking for someone that is new to pigs, has an aggressive sow, and most likely wouldn't be comfortable with ear notching the painted toenails would be a good option. Nothing against ear notching, but I doubt the OP would be comfortable doing it and the sow very well may hurt someone if they make the pigs scream too much as she isn't comfortable with people anyway.

Ok, I KNOW I can mail a coconut through the mail... but I'm not sure this will fit into my mailbox..... yeesh!!!!
