I am going to be getting a couple pigeons this spring and I will be keeping them with my chickens (I'm taking all of the special precautions just so you know). My question is: Will 2"x4" wire mesh fencing (whatever it's called) keep them in? Will they squeeze out? Will they even try to squeeze out? My run is very big, about 22'x16' and 6' high with branches and perches to sit on. And yes it has a wire roof.

NO, your pigeons would most likely walk through that 2x4 welded wire like it's not even there (depending on the breed and size) and won't offer much protection either. You could cover the 2x4ww with 1" chicken wire and it would do a pretty good job of both.

2 x 4 weld wire will keep pigeon in ,but some predators can get in. i house homer size behind it before, but wouldn't do it for long.

If you use 2x4 wire go over that with chicken wire, its cheap and harder to get through for pigeons AND predators.

I would recommend using "welded wire" 1/4" I know its expensive, I just paid $42 for a 25 foot roll of 3ft high but its well worth it if you want your birds to be safe.

I have used 1 X 2 welded wire works good, 1/2 X 1 welded wire for bottom of flight pen. for those small flight pens, like flying breed that get to fly. help them to sun on days they are not flying.
