My gosh I feel just sick. I posted about this pigeon that came here Sunday and was acting odd. She was kind of just sitting around on our back porch and moving slowly. She came again yesterday and same thing, she would just sit on the garage roof and then come back to our back porch. She did eat and drink yesterday though. The other pigeons that come around here to eat ( I am thinking she belonged to this group) well when I put seed out for her on the back porch a couple of them came and the male started jumping on her( I think he was trying to mate with her, that is just my guess, but it looked like he was just hurting her worse). I shooed him off of her and she was moving even more slow. I got a towel picked her up and brought her in. I put her in a small dog cage and put a small bowl of water and some food inside. She was okay when I went to bed, I checked on her and she was just sitting perched between the water bowl and the food bowl. This morning I woke up and she was laying in the cage and I knew she passed. I feel so awful inside. Did I somehow Cause her to die from maybe being frightened by bringing her in?? I mean would she have fared better if I left her alone outside in her own environment? My heart is sick right now. I have cried all morning over this.

Your bringing the pigeon into the house did not cause her death. Dying of fright would have been very fast. Being left outside would not have changed the outcome. You did your best and that's more than most would do.

Thank you for your kind words. I just feel so sad about the whole thing. I mean she did eat some food yesterday afternoon when she was outside. That made me hope she was not so bad off. I mean I just did not think a sick animal or bird would even eat. It is just sad:(
