That's unfortunate. I'm sorry that happened.

So many things could have happened. It is no joke that every bird flying over head is not just a miracle, but a whole series of miracles.

Internal injuries from whatever put it on the ground in the first place, an virus or bacteria that would have killed it regardless of whether it had even been injured, tiny, tiny lungs that can succumb to a respiratory illness incredibly fast.

Clint's Reptiles did a pretty good discussion on just how strange bird lungs are compared to our own.

TL;DR A respiratory infection in a bird is even more threatening than it is to us.

She seemed completely fine and had her apatite but I noticed earlier today she started breathing with her mouth open and closing. I set up a humidifier for her and she really did seem fine. I checked on her one last time before going out to bring my chickens in and when I came back she had spat up blood and passed I don’t know what it was that could have caused it and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to help her get back in her feet.

Sorry for your loss! You really do have to know how to feed them and what is the best to feed them since they are very fragile.
