Things you wish you could say

I wish I could say my cat Mia wasn't being so moody this last week.
She used to be such a good girl, and is still happy to snuggle with me. But she's growling at everyone, attacking my hand for reaching for my blankets, attacking poor Fluffles kitty for merely being in the window spot(s) first.
She scratched me last night for reaching to turn on her heating pad.
This was her a few minutes later, what a tortured life:

* Usually she only feels grumpy when hairballs plague her, but she's on her effective chew supplements and eating well.
** I doubt she could feel insecure, she's the top kitty of our duo and has been with us for 3 years.
*** She did escape into the out about 10 days ago, and has desperately wanted out again. But she was too hard to catch and I'm not willing to risk her.

Watch My Cat From Hell. Jackson Galaxy would probably say a visit to the vet might be in order to rule out any causes of discomfort like a UTI ... and then get her some cat toys like a feather on a stick to work off some of that energy and play with her till she's panting. But there's so much more, the guy is a cat genius!. Your hands should not be toys!

That chewy didn't send the wrong feed, easy mistake IG the packaging does look almost the same and I didn't even notice until I was filling the feeders and the pellets looked smaller than usual. Thankfully chewy customer support was really helpful (and I got a human right away without needing to go through menus) and the girls like the feed just fine. I also now have 50 extra pounds of feed even if it isn't the correct feed so that's nice. I just hope the other bag in my order (which hasn't arrived yet) is correct

I’m sorry they messed up. Chewy’s customer service is fantastic! FedEx lost our Chewy orders TWICE, and Chewy replaced not the dog and chicken feed both times. FedEx wouldn’t even try to locate the packages…

Thank you, I'll check that program out.
She's not using me as a toy, but actually angry that I dare move things around. Or that her friend Fluffy dares to be anywhere.
She's always been an atypical cat, very sweet.
My mind went to medical issues first, but she doesn't have any other symptoms. The vets charge a LOT for unspecific testing, so if it was medical I would need to narrow it down beforehand.

I'm wondering if it could just be a dominance thing. Maybe she's gotten spoiled? I dunno.
She's had some fun new toys lately, like this puzzle:

But she doesn't stay enthusiastic about toys. She wants to go outside and catch the birds around the bird feeder. And she gets mad when she sees me out the window without her.
I tried to harness train her so we could go for walks, but she continued to act ridiculous (immobile) each time I let her flop around the floor with the harness on.

A sudden behaviour change is often a sign of something physical going on. It may be expensive, but it sounds like a vet visit is in order.

Thanks! Yeah, for us the vet expense is not about willingness, but availability - I could pay for one issue, but not scattershot testing.
When our little Chihuahua had kidney problems, they were pretty sure that's what it was beforehand, but the test to confirm it was 1K.
A thousand dollars just so they could begin the treatment, which was of course a lot more than that.

To start at an obvious way of narrowing it down:
Pet or touch various parts of her to figure out if any of them hurt (she flinches or bites or something.)

From what you said of how she's acting, it sounds like she may not let you do this all at once, but you could do different parts at different times, and keep a list of what you have checked. If at some point you realize there is one area she never lets you touch, either try to hold onto her and do touch it, or have the vet check that in particular.

I assume you have already checked that she is using the litterbox normally? And that she is not limping when she moves around?
