I was wondering if a small loft about 5 x 4 x 6 (L x W x H) would be big enough for two pairs of pigeons? Also what kind of pigeons would you recommend? Can I house homers and rollers together?

Yes that is ample space for 2 pairs of pigeons.

Yes you can house rollers and homers together.

I am sold on homing pigeons.

That being said I suggest taking a quick peak at what are some of the pigeon breeds available and seeing what strikes your fancy.
