Pigeon Peas

Hi! I’ve seen a lot about beans being toxic to chickens. I bought canned pigeon peas for my family and they are a no-go. Are the rest of the cans safe for my chickens or no? I hate to waste food but better safe than sorry!

Cooked beans and peas are fine. Cooking removes the toxin.

Kidney beans have the most toxin so the have to be cooked to soft. Others you do not have to cook as much

Dried peas for pigeons, usually Austrian peas are fine for chickens, even raw. I would imagine if yours are canned, they are cooked, so I would say they would be fine.
