Pigeon Questions

I am thinking about getting into pigeons in a few years, as far as their diet goes I have heard people ask for pigeon mix at the feed store, what honestly should be contained in their food? Are there any good diets on the market. I plan to build a 8' by 16' aviary, is this a large enough space, and how many birds can it hold full time. I do not intend to fly my birds. I am looking at fantails and German owls. I have the room to build a second aviary the same size, would it be adviseable to keep the two varieties separated? Does anyone have an experience with these two breeds?

In a perfect world this is what serious pigeon fanciers feed.

I only keep homers but it is a good idea to try and keep your blood lines pure and mixing pigeons sometimes results in cross breeding (usually not that big of a problem once the pigeons have been paired.)
