Pigeon Smells Like Wet Dog?

Hi!

So, yesterday I adopted a Pigeon/Dove from Petco's adoption center. I brought the bird home and today gave him a bath...only to find out when he gets wet, he smells like wet dog. I am not sure if his previous owner ever gave him a bath-he was happy to take two today! (and the fact he also has an awful case of Feather Lice...yuk. Went to the vet and they made him swallow some medication for it that's supposed to clear it up)

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something I should worry about?

Hmmm wet dog huh? If you put a dish of water in the cage for him, he should just take a bath himself....Yes feather lice is pretty common...and can be a pain to take care of but for the most part it does not hurt the bird...you can get dust and stuff for it too at a farm store...The lice will damage feathers but from what I know thats about it...I would bleach the cage or something as well
