Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

30/05.
Dry and warm. Four hours.
I managed to pull a straining post over straining the top wire. :rant
The onions are appearing. All the fennel plants have survived. Two of the cuttngs I took from the fruit bush the chickens like seem to be doing okay; they're in a greenhouse with door and window open so I hope they can go straight in the ground next week.
Looking for hawthorn plugs. The few I planted aren't dead yet but they're not doing at all well.
Still clearing crap out of the field. The treasurer took another load to the dump this week and J took some a couple of days ago. There is still quite a bit left to take out of what was the geese run part of the extended run.

While I moaned about the phone above, I am pleased with the camera. I'm getting far fewer total fail pictures in point and squirt mode and occasionally I get something decent making use of some of the fine tuning available on the camera.

🤖 I had Android phones years ago, wasn’t enthusiastic about them. They all seemed to get outdated or broke within 3 years. Got my first iPhone from my work about 8 years ago. The operating system/standard apps are much more intuitive. Great photos. Love it. I had to hand it in after quitting the job. Spend some bucks and bought my own first iPhone when the LG I had, didn’t update anymore and got useless. No intent to go back to Android ever.

At the MORE (modern realisme) museum yesterday.

That's the thing I have liked about iPhone, it usually isn't bloated.

Shad bought a Pixel phone, which is a Google brand - which is not bloated.

Samsung Galaxy, LG, etc - those Android phones bloat their phones with their own apps and base features.

iPhone is for people who just don't want to bother with customization and don't want to fuss with a UI. For anyone with different neurotypes, an iPhone can be a blessing. They are eminently *simple* and basic to use. They work. I had one from 2007-2020 in various models.

Shadrach - your Pixel phone is capable of shooting in RAW if you so desire. It's down in the advanced settings menu - it makes the shutter a little bit slower, so I only use it when I want to shoot 'photography' fancy - but the Pixel camera is *so* superior to everything else out there, I've put up my DSLRs for good.

Welp, I tried. I blame @fuzzi and @thistlewick and all the others who keep posting pics of their beautiful Speckles! A new young lady will be ready on 9 July.

I’ll be getting one of a different breed from either the group before or after this one so that they’ll be same-aged buddies.

(By the way, Lil the EE has now laid 5 smallish but perfect eggs in six days, the last 4 in a row, and she just went into the coop. 🤯)

(Edit to add: make that 6 eggs in 7 days, the last 5 in a row! 🤯🤯)

Google is relatively tame compared to some other brands. To me, AI stuff being shoved in my face is bloatware though.

Motorola is bloody terrible in regards to bloatware. I refuse to buy their handsets.

I have a Note 9. Thanks to the carrier lock on it it added bloatware to it. I managed to rid the device of the bloatware. Without the bloat it is still my favorite phone. Headphone jack, microSD slot. It being stuck on Android 10 makes me sad.

My Nana has used a iPhone for close to around 14 years if I'm not mistaken. At its core it's still simple enough for her to use and be able to do things like share and receive photos.

I usually don't use RAW since I'm not going to edit/colour grade the images.

I had tons of cicada last year. I have a few gallon bags full in the freezer still. The poults I have pened can't find the extra protein bugs and it makes them friendlier when they take from my hand.
They just came out about a week ago. We have not heard them by our home but have several blocks away. We have Only seen shells, not wondering anymore why the chickens are not eating as much pellets. I never thought of collecting them to freeze for later. Now if we can only find any that haven't been eaten.
