Hi guys. I posted here 10 days ago about my duckling falling over and unable to stand. I added vitamin b complex immediately and she started doing better. She still has a pigeon toe and seems wobbly/weak and lays down more than I would like. I let her swim the other day and her left leg kind of just floats out to the side like she has no control over it and when I let her out of the water she seemed to have almost no balance.
She gets brewers yeast and vitamin b complex plus I feed purina flock raiser which claims to have the correct amount of niacin for ducklings. I’m really at a loss with what to do. Is her quality of life going to be poor? Is there something I can do to help straighten her out or make her legs stronger? I am trying to see if I can find a vet to take a look at her even. But I’m really hoping someone might have suggestions. I’ve not found any older posts about a pigeon toed duckling that still had loss of balance and laid a lot after supplementing niacin daily

I’ve attached a photo so you can see where her legs are pigeon toed and she stands on her feet.

I do appreciate the slight angulation of her feet, but it is not to the degree where I would be particularly concerned; the lack of balance you have mentioned is more concerning. Both of which, could suggest gait function is being altered - given the duckling has intracranial lipoma (crest) that creates an increased predisposition for developing neurological problems. I don't believe niacin is the problem here.

Several vitamins, specifically, B6, B1, and vitamin E are associated with neurological development, and function; additionally, one might consider whether there is a mineral deficiency at play affecting the musculoskeletal structure. To cover more bases, you may consider starting her on a broader poultry vitamin and see if that will help reduce some of the problems you're seeing. Plenty of water therapy, supportive care, and keeping the bird in a stress-free environment may reduce some of the symptoms you're witnessing.

Just curious you mention water therapy, but after swimming she has worse balance when back on the ground, not sure what your thoughts are on that?

I do also have vitamin e paste I can start giving her immediately to see if I find a difference. Do you have any specific multi vitamin you would suggest? Do you think it is too late to correct?
