Today I had a little white pigeon show up on my doorstep. Literally.
It's stuck around all day near the chicken coop, is there anything I can do for it while it rests (which I assume is happening)?
What a nice little bird. Hopefully it will return to it's loft after a rest. Good of you to assist.:hugs

It's real sweet but won't let me near it. No way I'd put it in my Coop, my big hens are too busy brutalizing my new chicks.
The only numbers I can read on its leg band is 8040. I hope it's okay tonight, raccoons are wicked around here

I hpoe so too! That's pretty good you got the individual bird number. It probably reads : AU 2018 (then letters for the club) 8040.

I agree with Hokum, that looks like a young bird... plus it has a 2018 band on it, so must be a 2018 young bird.

I'd take a different approach to trying to catch it. I'd simply wait until it gets dark, and then just go grab it. They can't see well at night, and usually will let you get close enough to just grab them when it is dark. I would do that for at least two reasons: (1) to keep it safe from coons, and (2) get it back to its owner.

Keep us posted!
