I am interested in keeping pigeons someday, and wondered about two different breeds. First, Modenas, Can they fly? They look too chubby but the info i read says they were originally flown in certain types of competition. Second, Damascenes, How can I get some? They seem pretty rare. Can a pigeon fancier point me in the right direction? Also what pigeon reference books are good to have?

Modern modenas still can fly, not very well, but if let out since young, they will fly.

OK, thanks. Is there a website or forum as great as BYC in the pigeon world?

    Hey there,

I've had both those breeds, and they both can be great flyers.

If you're looking for either of those breeds I would recommend checking and watching for them on

    www.eggbid.com

    under the fancy pigeons link...
    or even try looking through:

    www.slobberknockerlofts.com

    (the pigeon breeders link)

    Take Care,
    Bill.
