I'm getting into pigeons and been reading that pigeon have to have a floor in there pen is this true . I bred pigeons couple years ago and i had a 10 by 10 loft and a 20by8 flight pen. I had 20 birds and they never stay in there loft only at night . Do i need a floor?

I suspect what you are reading has more to do with discouraging predators.

Some folks use dovecotes for "wild-ish" birds, whereas most of the hobbyists build a loft because they keep them more or less as pets and don't want predators.

Guess depend on your area , i would never have a loft without a floor.....ground to damp here.

It normally dry and sandy . I had some on the ground and not even one die
