This is my first full winter with her ... I got her on New Years Day when she was a weeee little piggy and she just went out to do her bussiness...the person I had bought her from had them in a barn in a horse stall and had a heat light in one corner ...she had been weaned from her mama and mama was outside playing ...
A friend has a PBP also and she lives farther up north here in Ontario and she tells me he just hibernates more ...lives in a dog crate in the barn with lots of straw ...
The dog house my Bellas in now is insulated floors walls and hubby lower the ceiling and we put straw on top and gave her plenty to tunnel in .with her blankies of course ...lol.....the door is off set so the wind does not blow inside and the whole house is blocked from the north wind .....
I was thinking of using one of the wireless themometers to see how low the temperatures gets ...because if it does get too low I'll probably sneek her inside the house into her old dog crate .....
but thats in Jan or Feb normally
Right now my problem is she's starting to wander over to the neighbours and they dont mind but they're concerned about their crazy horses stomping on her ...so this weekend were going to hot wire her pasture she's in with our horses ad another string to the bottom and see what happens ...she has a place of her own to go also .....again my friend up north has hot wired a fence all around her coops because her piggy who's really BIG breaks open the doors/fences to get at the chicken feed ...it works ...and they only had to leave it on for a week ....
But all in all we love her ...she's comes running to her name and loves to be brushed and scratched ....she leaves my gardens alone also ...
