Can you let them free roam, there's someone up the road, quiet some distance but there pigs have been out by the road before. The pigs you mentioned r big black ones these are the typical pink ones.

Why did you chose your pigs over the pink ones?

I know feral pigs can be a problem in many areas, so I’d be afraid to free range them. I’m far from an expert and can’t speak for everyone. Pigs can be escape artists though. I have two strands of electric on my fence that keeps them in.

I chose them because I know the breeder and have always liked her pigs. Also they’re a smaller, docile breed. I only have 5 acres and can only devote about half an acre to pigs, so a small breed made sense to me. And I didn’t want to deal with huge mean pigs.

We've raised them in the past for meat but we have a huge feral hog issue so it's easier and cheaper for me to just trap them. Plus it keeps them from tearing up my cow pasture.
